introduction to a long vacation

The use of travelling is to regulate imagination by reality, and instead of thinking how things may be, to see them as they are. – Samuel Johnson

Within me is a heart of a traveler, the sound of silent longing to wander. A desire mostly neglected for several reasons. Come 2012, I actually made plans for a series of trips with my band beginning with a tour in Western Visayas last April then a visit to Singapore and Malaysia three months after (see tour dates). It’s the best excuse to travel and the most effective way to promote the band and the music.

I was supposed to close the year with another tour in the Mindanao region but something better came up. I was invited by my brother and his wife to fly to Los Angeles for a long vacation. So here I am now, in a small den, gathering my thoughts, looking over hundreds of photos I already took, trying to get off with the task to share what I think is personally significant, inspiring or life changing.

It’s been 28 days since I arrived at LAX. If you are wondering why it took me so long to write about anything, well, the answer is simple. I’m having a grand time! Gigging, roaming around, bonding with family and friends. Devoting more time doing things in the real world and less on the four corners of the computer screen.

At the lobby of Capitol Records, a major landmark near the corner of Hollywood and Vine. Home of Beatles recordings! 11/9/2012

On the other hand, I certainly don’t want to keep to myself my little joys and adventures so I will try my best to post a series of updates. They may not be real-time and may be trivial or boring to some, but hey, LA (and it’s neighboring cities and states) is no commonplace for a commoner like me. :)
